  • The American Petroleum Institute (API) and the International Standards Organization (ISO) are developing standards and recommended practices for the gas-lift industry.
  • The API has a task group (11V) dedicated to gas lift, with a workgroup for each project.
  • The API process for creating a new standard or recommended practice (RP) can take 2-4 years, and involves a task group, work group, and sub-committee.
  • Several API gas lift documents are in various stages of development, including some that are being reaffirmed, revised, or withdrawn as they are replaced by ISO documents.
  • The ISO organization also has a task group dedicated to gas lift.
  • The ISO process for developing new standards involves a task group and work group, and includes several stages of review.
  • Several ISO gas lift standards have been published or are in development.
  • Both API and ISO have potential future gas-lift projects, but these require a champion and work group to be formed and approved before work can begin.
  • This presentation also includes copyright and disclaimer information.
