HWDDDA: Measuring True Downhole Position and Load in Deviated Wells Dr. Victoria Pons, Liberty Lift Lynn Rowlan, Echometer Dr. Tony Podio, Professor & Author Robert Valadez, Conoco Phillips Willy Manfoumbi, Conoco Phillips Michael Romer, Exxon Mobil Derek Burmaster, Exxon Mobil Jeremy Gomes, Liberty Lift Walter Phillips, Wansco Wyatt Tubb, ETA Clarence Foytik, MicroSmart ALRDC Sucker […]
Project Goal and Overview – Gather true measured data in both deviated & horizontal rod-pumped wells, Plot actual downhole load & position: dynagraph cards, Provide that measured downhole data to industry for use in developing new algorithms, Improve our understanding of side loads, bending, friction, damping, and other factors resulting from well deviation.
Current models for design and analysis of rod pumped wells are based on data from vertical wells. The assumption that these models work is only theoretical. Such models have never been validated with actual measurements from deviated or horizontal wells.
There’s been a dilemma in the oil industry for years concerning the sharing of data, knowledge and expertise. Should we share or keep it close and possibly have an advantage over our competitors? Is it worth the time and effort required for presentations and related approvals or is it a waste of time personally and […]
