Industry Pursuit of API 19G2 V0 Validation
Presentation
The American Petroleum Institute (API) Specification 19G2 sets forth the standards for the validation and functional testing of gas lift flow control devices. Specification design validation grade V0 represents the highest level of testing rigor to validate flow control devices for use in severe conditions or simply to maintain tubing/casing pressure integrity.
The V0 grade is a special designation that ensures the equipment can best withstand not only high-pressure differentials but also the dynamic conditions of downhole environments, including temperature fluctuations, and potential high liquid and/or gas rates during well unloading and lifting.
The industry has pursued V0 for over a decade. This presentation reviews the specific criteria and sequence of testing required to meet V0 validation.
